Moscow, Russia – January 13, 2015 — Huawei today announced the successful implementation of its Agile Stadium Solution at Spartak Stadium in Moscow, completing a modernization effort that significantly upgrades the venue’s digital capabilities.
The deployment aims to address the challenges faced by large sports facilities in providing high-density, secure wireless broadband access for tens of thousands of simultaneous users. By leveraging the new solution, Spartak Stadium is now equipped to deliver enhanced mobile services and create a direct digital link between operators, sports clubs, and fans.
Enhanced Fan Experience and Operational Efficiency
The solution enables a new range of fan services and operational efficiencies, including:
- High-density, high-security Wi-Fi access for all fans.
- Direct ordering of food and drinks to fan seats.
- Online sales of tickets and merchandise.
- In-stadium seat and parking navigation.
Huawei’s collaboration with Spartak Stadium began in 2013, focusing on expanding and upgrading existing ICT systems while maintaining cost control. The project included planning and implementing a fault-tolerant network architecture supported by advanced switches, routers, servers, storage systems, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
The newly deployed systems also manage the stadium’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) with video archiving, digital signage, telephony, and access control. This infrastructure supports customized fan services, such as personalized registration, ticket purchase history, and discount programs.
“Huawei sees great market potential in the sports facilities sector,” commented Cao Chong, CEO of the Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Russia. “Together with our partners, Huawei is dedicated to providing reliable integrated solutions to address the current and future needs of stadiums and sports arenas in Russia as well as worldwide.”
