December 18, 2024 – A recent survey conducted by Audi Abu Dhabi has unveiled a significant rise in interest among UAE residents for pre-owned electric vehicles (EVs), signaling a transformative shift towards sustainable transportation in the region. The findings underscore evolving consumer preferences and identify key factors shaping the demand for pre-owned EVs, offering valuable insights into the region’s future mobility trends.
The survey revealed that warranty availability is the top consideration for potential buyers, with 32% of respondents indicating they would consider purchasing a pre-owned EV if warranty options were provided. The demand for warranties emerged as a cross-demographic priority, with 41% of Emirati respondents and 36% of individuals aged 18-24 ranking it as their most influential factor. Middle-income earners also echoed this sentiment, with 37% prioritizing warranties in their decision-making process.
Cost savings and environmental benefits are also driving interest, with 27% of respondents citing these as their primary motivators. Notably, those aged 25-34 showcased the strongest focus on financial and eco-conscious benefits, with 33% identifying these factors as key.
However, challenges persist in accelerating the adoption of pre-owned EVs. A lack of charging infrastructure was identified as a significant deterrent by 13% of respondents, who expressed hesitation about committing to a purchase until improvements are made. Additionally, 17% of consumers noted an interest in EVs but indicated they are not yet ready to transition, highlighting the need for education and awareness campaigns to build consumer confidence and understanding of EV technology.
“Audi Abu Dhabi recognizes the importance of understanding consumer sentiment as the automotive landscape continues to evolve,” said Scott Shears, General Manager of Audi Abu Dhabi. “The survey results reaffirm the growing appetite for electric vehicles across demographics in the UAE, particularly among Emiratis and younger drivers. By offering tailored solutions, we aim to make the transition to sustainable mobility as seamless and rewarding as possible for our customers.”
To address barriers and encourage EV ownership, Audi Approved :Plus Abu Dhabi has launched exclusive offers on its e-tron SUV, including financing options starting at AED 2,999 per month on a 60-month plan with a 20% down payment. Additional perks include a 4-year free service plan, a 2-year warranty, and 2 years of roadside assistance. Customers can also purchase the vehicle outright for AED 199,000.
The survey, conducted by YouGov, polled over 1,000 UAE residents aged 18-50, offering a comprehensive understanding of consumer attitudes toward pre-owned EVs.
As the UAE continues its journey toward sustainability, the growing interest in pre-owned electric vehicles reflects a broader societal shift toward eco-conscious and financially savvy choices. Addressing challenges such as infrastructure and awareness will be critical in ensuring a smooth transition to a greener future.
